This homeowner contacted us because they believed their footing drains had been washed away and their foundation was dipping. they believed this because they were experiencing all the tell-tale signs of a sinking foundation.
Upon our Specialist inspecting the home he noticed that all these things were happening because the foundation was sinking. Once we determined this we could determine that the soil conditions around the home were horrible and that we needed to install our Stabillok push pier system to fix this. When we performed our exterior dig up we also saw that the foundation wall was extremely compromised due to not having a parge coating or waterproofing coating of any type. Because of this, we could not install our push piers underneath the wall and properly support the home because putting that pressure on top of the block would have led to more problems.
As a result, we regrouped and worked with our team of engineers and Stabillok headquarters to design a new solution to save this home. The solution that we came up with is unique and specific to this home. To properly support and stabilize this home, we installed triple 2x8's every thirty-two inches on center. Once done, we installed a six-inch I-Beam underneath them. What this is going to do is take the weight of our push piers and give us something solid to drive off. By doing this we have a situation where the wall and its unstable soil are no longer a factor.
By doing this the home will sit on our piers, our piers will be sitting in stable soil, and now their home is no longer in danger of sinking and falling over. By completing this project, we saved this home and turned a depreciating asset into an appreciating asset that these homeowners now feel safe living in.
We turned this nasty crawlspace with structural problems into a clean and safe crawlspace with the SmartJack support system.
This homeowner contacted Basement Systems Of New York because his foundation wall was bowing. The reason this occurred was that little to their knowledge when, they originally purchased the home over thirty years ago, they did not know that the addition that the previous homeowner put on wasn't properly; supported and tied into the wall. Also, when their siding was installed water was allowed to run behind it and hit the foundation wall.
Upon our Specialist inspecting and taking their measurements, he noticed that the wall had deflected inward approximately three inches. Because of the amount of deflection due to both soil and water erosion, this home's foundation wall was severely compromised and had to repair before things became worse.
To take care of the issue, we started by jackhammering six inches from the foundation wall to create a trench. Once we had removed the old concrete, we installed four PowerBraces with an eight-foot brace strategically spaced with our top-lever bracket. We then built a form around the trench we had created with two-by-fours. Once completed, we pour our concrete footing/curb around our PowerBraces. In doing so, we were able to provide much more stability and rigidity to the wall.
Since reinforcing their foundation, this homeowner has been able to sleep easy at night knowing that their home will not fall over. Also, they now have some more storage space due to how their new footing/curb sits. They could not be any happier with how their project turned out. They are so glad that they decided to invest in the security of their home.
Recently, we received a call from a homeowner distressed about their sinking foundation. The culprit? The home’s location on the clay shores of a lake, which had caused the house to slide out of its original foundation.
To tackle this issue, our first step was to temporarily support the home. We then carefully knocked down the original block foundation wall. With the old wall removed, we began installing our pre-construction Stabil-Lok push piers, driving them deep down to the stable strata/bedrock.
With the piers securely in place, we laid the rebar for the new floor and footing. Once this framework was completed, we poured the new footing and floor. Next, we constructed a new block foundation wall, incorporating rough openings for doors and windows. This preparation ensured that the homeowner could easily install their new doors and windows.
Thanks to these efforts, the home is no longer sinking and is structurally sound. The homeowner can now rest easy, knowing their home is safe and stable. They couldn't be happier with the outcome of their project.
Basement Systems of New York was contacted to see how we could help this home in Highland, NY with its bowing wall issue in the homeowners' basement. After our specialist performed his analysis he realized that in order to undo the issue at hand that was caused by settlement we would need to pour a new 24" x 16" concrete footing. We then would construct a new block wall on top of it, which is properly reinforced with rebar and pinned to both sides of the foundation walls. By implementing both a new block wall and concrete footing we would be able to properly reinforce the wall and permanently relieve the home of its bowing wall issue due to the stability and rigidity of it now.
To ensure professional installation and superior service we carefully created an international network of over 350 trusted basement contractors.
